A partnership has been formed between Business in the Community and Passmores Academy with aerospace companies Aerial-Drones, Rakon, Robert Stuart and which will lead to the development of a class on Unmanned Systems for students participating in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics subjects. The initiative and basis of the course is around unmanned technology and is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK for secondary school students.
The initiative is aimed at year 10-11 students who are soon to be deciding their GCSE options. The expected 6 month initiative will explore initially four key areas of unmanned technology focusing on Space, Land, Air and Sea. The students will then select one of these areas on which the project will be based.
The project will then include research of unmanned principles, design and construction and final testing of an end product.
